Beware the "Helpful" DM
NEVER click a link or download a file from someone who asks you to Direct Message them for answers to questions you've posted in public group chats. Scammers constantly lurk in community channels, using counterfeit names and cloned profile pictures to trick you into thinking you are talking to official Tech Support.
Verify Before You Trust
Always scan suggested links before you even think about clicking. Use trusted URL scanners to check for malicious activity:
- VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url
- urlscan.io: https://urlscan.io/
Investigate the Source
- Run a quick search: Simply ask a search engine, "Is [WebsiteName].com a scam?"
- Check the domain age: Look up when the website was registered. The vast majority of scam sites designed to drain your wallet are only a few months—or even days—old.
Don't Ignore Red Flags
BELIEVE YOUR VPN or VIRUS SOFTWARE! If your security tools give you a warning, do not bypass it to connect a wallet or download a file.
The Disappearing Act
Scammers will almost always delete their messages and block you once the interaction is over or if you call them out. This is a deliberate tactic to erase the chat history, evade reporting, and stay hidden to target the next victim.
Stay vigilant and protect your assets!
